“Joey, hang in there!”
Alianore looked over to Tea through her blue bangs, who was yelling at the top of her lungs for Joey. Then she looked at black-haired Andromeda, who was watching the dueling match between Marik and Joey with a slight frown.
Andromeda turned her head to look at Alianore. Sapphire met onyx, and for a second, they were allied again, but then Andromeda smirked defiantly, and it was as if she had screamed her thoughts aloud to Alianore: ”Marik will win.”
Alianore swallowed and turned her attention back to the blond boy battling the crazy-looking Egyptian. She opened her mouth to cheer for him, but her voice wouldn’t come.
She could only watch in silence as the Winged Dragon of Ra fired it’s attack at him. But suddenly her legs were moving, and then she had placed herself in front of Joey, arms outstretched to take the attack herself.
She heard Rory yell out her name, heard someone scream that she was an idiot. She didn’t care.
When the attack ceased, she still stood, and then lifted her head to give Marik a slight grin. “You won’t win,” she said hoarsely before she began to fall forwards, her legs unable to support her weight.
The last thing she felt was someone catching her, and right before she fell unconscious, she heard Joey yell to someone,”She’s not breathing!”
-----------------
Rory’s emerald eyes watched in horror as her best friend began to fall, about to run forward, but Yami blocked her way.
“Rory, if you go out there, you’ll be killed,“ he tried to reason with her, to no avail. She was beyond being able to be coaxed out of running onto the platform.
So, he was forced into the second option. Restraint.
His arms latched tightly around her arms and chest, pinning her to him, he endured her kicks and punches, her screams of fury.
“Let me go now!” she howled, thrashing and tugging at her deep brown hair,”I will kill you, I swear! I will!”
He shook his head. “It’s too much of a risk, Rory!”
She let out a shrill shriek of rage, one that made him wince, and he was inwardly thankful when Haikari rushed up with a tranquilizer and Rory slowly fell into a deep sleep.
-------------------------
Andromeda, despite her annoyance with her sister, longed to help her, but she wouldn’t. It was crossing the imaginary line just to have screamed at her.
Wheeler had just forfeited the duel. She made a face. How stupid. Why not just ignore the stupid fool?
She looked up from her reverie as Marik descended the platform.”Good job out there,” she said, smirking,”Almost got beaten by a two-bit duelist.”
He growled at her. “Shut up, Andromeda,” he snapped at her.
Andromeda’s smirk grew and she shrugged. “Fine, fine. If you can’t take the truth…”
Marik snarled at her and he stormed off, causing her to add one point to her name on the scoreboard in her head.
She noticed all the idiots were rushing into the main area of the blimp, Kaiba and Bakura following reluctantly.
She thought. Shrugged. And followed them.
-----------------
The doctor wrung his hands slightly as he watched over Alianore’s condition, partly because he was worried that she wouldn’t make it. And partly because he had a tall, blond boy glaring him down.
The said blond took his eyes off the doctor to look at Alianore worriedly. He still had no clue why she had jumped in front of him to keep him from being in her position.
In the same room, a tranquilized Rory was laying docilely in her own bed, Yami sitting beside her, shaking his head.
“What possessed you to go crazy like that?” he murmured softly, sighing.
“She cares more about Alianore than she lets on,” a sarcastic voice said from the doorway.
Both boys looked towards the door to see a smirking Andromeda watching them, having waited until it was just them in the room.
“You!” Joey hissed, standing abruptly,”Why’re you here?!”
“I would like to know that as well,” Yami growled, standing more slowly than his friend.
Andromeda snorted, a superior look on her face. “Easy. I came to check on my sister. Or do your simple minds not understand-“
“Shut up!” Joey looked really pissed. Damn, she was good at this.
“Aw, the puppy can growl,” she taunted, a laugh spilling past her lips.
“Enough, Andromeda,” Yami said coldly,”Go back to Marik. No one wants you here.”
Andromeda’s eyes narrowed. “You make it sound as though I’m dependent on him.”
“Aren’t you?” he asked, a vague tone of taunting leaking into his voice,”You’re only all over him at all times.”
She began to chuckle. “Appearances’ sake, Spikey. You of all people should know that.”
The Pharaoh bristled slightly. “What is that supposed to mean?!”
“You act like you’re a leader, but really, you have no idea. You’re sturggling along in blind faith against something you could never hope to defeat!” Andromeda ended her degrading sentence with a sharp laugh.
“Hey, you leave him alone!” Joey growled, where Yami stood silent, glaring furiously at Alianore’s older sister.
“Ah, but it’s true, Pup. And you,” she said, turning her dark gaze to him,”are merely a street kid with no good reputation whatsoever. You’re never going to get anywhere in life. You’ll always be bottom of the food chain.”
Joey’s eyes widened, then darkened in anger. “You’ve got no right to say that!” he growled.
