“I don’t get it.”
Sabrina gave her yami a dirty look. “It’s hard not to, Yasmine.”
Said yami sighed. “I get confused easily. Big deal.”
“You only get confused because you think about him!”
Yasmine flinched away from Sabrina, eyes hurt. “That’s not true…”
“It is!” Sabrina’s glare intensified. “He’s all you ever think about anymore! He’s moved on, Yasmine. You should have too.”
“I wanted to stay with you all…” she whimpered softly.
“We shouldn’t have factored in the equation! Now you’ve lost your chance, and you have to stay here until you die!”
Yasmine cringed again. “I’m sorry…”
“Like hell you are!” There was a flurry of paper and books flying as Sabrina roughly stood from her desk in study hall. Several faces looked up, confused.
Yasmine remained seated, staring at her hands in her lap. She looked fragile, breakable. Not like the normal, mean, ornery Yasmine.
Softly, she sobbed, tears falling to her lap. “I am…”
Sabrina glared down at the shell of her yami’s former self. She raised her hand and slapped her. “Get it together!”
At that point, Yugi and Ryou looked up, eyes wide. They looked confused as to why, but then Ryou’s eyes saddened knowingly.
Yasmine turned a loud sob into a cough, placing a hand gingerly on her burning cheek. “You don’t get it…” she choked out.
“Get what?” the other girl hissed, eyes hard.
Yasmine stood up at that point, and when she looked at Sabrina, her eyes were filled with a pain so ancient that Sabrina’s glare faltered. “I watched him die…” She choked slightly, then continued “In Ancient Egypt. I held him in my arms as he turned to sand. I could only imagine his agony as he did.” She sobbed again before saying, in a steely voice,”And then I watched as he faded away for good. We had what, two years? After five thousand apart?” She paused, then screamed,”You don’t understand!”
Sabrina took a step back, then hissed,”Whether or not I understand, the point remains that-“
“What if Joey died?!” Yasmine’s question caused Sabrina to cut herself off abruptly. “Would you want to keep on living?! Would you?!”
Sabrina stared at her as she broke down in full-fledged sobs, stared as Ryou immediately darted over, putting his arms around her like a brother would, as Yugi placed a hand on her shoulder gently. “What are you saying?”
“What am I saying…?” Yasmine’s voice was tinged with hysteria. “What am I saying?” She shook slightly before screaming,”I want to die!”
All of the students jumped at her scream, then watched in horror as her sobs turned to howls of rage… and helplessness. Rage that she couldn’t stop him. Helpless to kill herself to go to him.
Ryou held her tighter, murmuring to her gently, trying to soothe her. Yugi looked stricken at this revelation, and even more at the fact that Ryou seemed to know.
Several of the students jumped up, about to run for the nurse, when Sabrina shook her head at them. Slowly they sat back down, their stares troubled.
Yasmine struggled in Ryou’s arms, her howls morphing into cries, almost like a lost kitten or bird searching for shelter or their mother.
Suddenly, she broke free and bolted for the door, her anguished manner prevented most from following her, but Sabrina, Ryou, and Yugi persisted.
Yugi finally panted out,”I’ll get Mika or Rikku, okay?” Sabrina allowed him a nod, focused on Yasmine.
Suddenly, just as soon as she rounded a corner, she vanished. Ryou stopped, glancing around, while Sabrina swore, searching for traces of her magic. None. She’d used an outside force.

Meanwhile, Yasmine appeared with a thud on the roof, slightly out of breath. She mentally debated with herself for a moment before fishing in her pocket, drawing out a pocket-sized razorblade. She pursed her lips, glancing between the blade and the edge of the building before grinning wildly and digging the razorblade into her skin.
Instead of pain, she felt a sense of closure. “I’m coming Kura…” she whispered, repeatedly slicing her skin,”Wait for me, okay?”
She looked towards the sky, faintly feeling the blood dribble down her arm. “Please wait… I’m coming.” She gave a hysteria-tinged laugh. “And we’ll be together forever!”
She switched arms and, when she felt dizzy and lightheaded from blood loss, she gave a small giggle and shuffled towards the edge of the building.
“I’ll find you!” she crowed triumphantly, loud enough that she thought her voice rang all through Domino. “I’ll always find you!”
Finally, she looked down and saw several of her adopted sisters. Cheerfully, she raised a bloody hand in a wave, twistedly enjoying Rebound, Rikku, and Alianore’s horrified looks.
Before she gleefully lurched forward and watched the ground rush up to meet her, closing her eyes before she hit.
Thud.

When she blearily opened her eyes, the first thing she registered was that she wasn’t dead. Second, she realized she was in a hospital bed, in an ambulance.
She shifted her head to the side, feeling her strength weakening. She saw Sabrina, teary-eyed, watching her. She gave a morbid smile to her hikari, then whispered three words before darkness overtook her and her heart was still.
“Now you understand.”
