Past:
- Born to a sickly mother, Alu was a small, frail child, resembling his mother in physical built. His father was unkown, and he never grew to learn about him, as soon after his 2nd birthday, his mother died. Sent to an orphanage, he was quickly found a pair of loving foster parents due to his "adorable features" and "feminine looks". There he was raised, pampered, and spoiled until he turned 5, and a newcomer arrived. They had taken in a new, equally as adorable child, and their interest in Alu faded (as does with the couples who love children a little too much). Soon, he found himself back in the orphanage, scooped up by another couple who fell in love with his porcelin skin and silvery eyes.
However, he was a quiet child. He never screamed, never cried, never showed any emotion around this new couple. By the time he was 7, they labeled him with a fancy social disorder and shipped him back to the orphanage, unable to cope with the strange silences the child would give them, no matter how much they loved him.
This time, he was old enough to socialize and make friends...however, he did not. He could be found in the corners with mysterious bruises and cuts all over him, as well as many bandages. None of the nuns figured out how he got them, though rumour came that the boy was bullied by the others. He never spoke about it.
Around 9 years of age, he was picked again by a particular couple who fell in love with the boy's "girlish charm". However, his foster father took a little too much interest in the boy's girlish charms.... and his foster mother was a weak, bird-like woman, and did nothing about it, turned her nose in the middle of the night, and ignored her husband's empty side of the bed. Alu grew to fear men, for the obvious reasons, and despise women for their weakness. He did nothing to stop his foster father, and continued to remain silent, his protests proving futile. Around 13, however, puberty hit. His girly stature remained the same, but his voice deepened...unkown to anyone, as he rarely used it, and when he talked, he whispered his words. His foster father, no longer wanting the boy (fearing he would lose his beauty and feminine looks), gave him back to the orphanage, which he regarded as a safe haven.
However, the change in the boy was not noticable. He remained thin, with wide eyes and silky hair. Once again, his mysterious bruises and cuts returned during his stay, but he welcomed this different abuse. To him, anything was better than what he had endured for the last 4 years. However, the "sanctuary" of the orphanage did not last long. One year later, at the age of 14, a new foster family took him in.... with the same intent as the last one. His own personal Hell resumed, this time, with no end in sight, until he was of legal age. However, an unlikely savior came to him, in the form of a Christmas tree.
It was Christmas Eve, and Alu was around 16. He still did not talk, scream, or even make noises. The fireplace was crackling next to the tree, but no one payed any attention. It was the same as every year. Alu was outside, sitting in a tree, bundled up in snow gear (this foster mother was as weak as the other; though she attempted to make life easier for Alu, he still despised her) and watching the snow blend in with his hair and skin. His foster parents were inside, the father bitching and moaning about costs, and the mother nodding her head quietly.
A single spark, some noise, and soon...it was gone. Alu was in the tree when it started. A spark from the fire (sent by an angel, Alu later assumed) had leaped from it's home in the fireplace and onto the tree. The tinsel and wooden ornaments were quickly set ablaze, and the room was engulfed by fire. However, his foster father did not see the necessity of fire alarms, and did not have any in the house. As the smell of smoke filled the air, they finally went to inspect. Upon opening of the door, a fire rushed out to greet the foster parents. They turned to flee, but the fire had leaped from the room to the broken plaster above their heads, and left them in a fiery ring, with no escape.
Alu watched from his tree as the black smoke consumed the house, and his neighbors came to invesigate, their cellphones in their hands and screams in the air. As the fire crept closer, sirens rang throughout the air, but Alu remained still, his silver eyes taken captive by the fire's beauty. It was then his obsession started.
An angel......
He was saved by the Angel of Fire. It answered his silent calls, even after he had given up...Finally, it had come and taken his greatest trouble, sending it up in a blaze far too beautiful for the people consumed by it. He watched in horror as the terrible men in red doused the fire with their water, and the last thing he remembered was running into the fire, screaming, trying to save the Angel.
Days later, he was in the hospital, whispers around him. Arson? The nuns at the orphanage fought the idea. Alu was far too quiet and innocent to do such a thing, and even in his charred form, his girly features spoke of his innocence. However, upon returning to the orphanage after weeks in critical care, rumours spawned. In his usual corners, he could be spotted with lighters, watching the flames they sparked, and whispering to himself. No one wanted the strange boy, who lighted newspaper fires in the sinks and watched them with a strange glee on his face. The strange bruises and cuts stopped, and were replaced by burns, but Alu did not seem to mind.
None of them knew of the deep joy he took in communicating with his savior. He had heard about God, but developed his own: Fire. He knew the Angel was always watching him, always looking over him. And after the incident, no one took him home, fearing their own home would be turned into a shrine for this boy's "God". His eighteenth birthday rolled around, and finally, he was free. He left the orphanage with a suitcase full of a couple of clothes, his lighter, and a box of matches.
Present:
- 18 and on his own, Alu has found comfort in being alone. He still suffers burns almost constantly, and can be seen rebandaging his burns all the time. He tends to shiver a lot, always claiming that he is cold. Nothing seems to warm him, no matter how close to the fire he gets... which leads to a lot of his burns, as he tends to claim his fingers are frozen and just sticks them in. He is a bit awkward in social situations, not understanding how other people hate or fear fire, and due to his early childhood beatings and sexual abuse. He cringes if a man near him so much as raises his hand, or gets too close, but remains silent, as he always has. His hatred of women has subsided substantionally, seeing that not all of them are weak physically and mentally. He can still be seen sitting alone, however, clicking his lighter on and off, amazed by the flames.
