((Warning! It's Rebound/Y. Marik tiem. Never thought you'd hear that from me, didya?))
She sighed as she walked down the hallway of the Battle City blimp. Glancing out a window, it was dusk now. They were all in the banquet room, then. She sighed again, brushing her dirty blond hair out of her eyes. Her aqua eyes went from despondent to cheerful in a split second. Time for the show to begin.
She danced into the banquet hall, smiling brightly. "Hello~" she sang, putting her arms around Alianore and Andromeda's shoulders.
"You seem happy," Andromeda commented in her smooth voice, raising an eyebrow delicately.
Rebound nodded. "I am! It's almost time for this whole thing to be over!" she chirped, her grin widening at that thought.
Suddenly she jumped, as though she'd been shocked. Feeling someone staring at her, she turned slowly, removing her arms from around their necks in the process. Just as she'd thought.
Marik, Yami Marik, to be precise, was leaning against a wall, watching her with that leering grin on his face.
She shuddered slightly, her smile vanishing for a moment before she turned back around and slapped it back on. "So, what's for dinner?" she asked cheerfully.
-----------
Soon after, she left, on the pretense of them having nothing appealing to her. Which, that was a blatant lie, but she wasn't hungry. Seeing him had completely disposed of her appetite.
Away from the others, on the deck, leaning onto the railing and looking out at the night sky, her smiling facade was dropped like a hot potato, leaving her as lifeless as before. "Act One, intermission," she mumbled grimly to herself.
She honestly hated playing this twisted game. But she couldn't let Marik have the satisfaction of her friends being helpless to watch as she spiraled downward. No, she'd make sure they had no clue.
That, of course, was harder than it sounded. She had to avoid being overly-peppy, which was an almost dead-giveaway. So far, she'd eluded that, but...
She sighed softly, then heard footsteps behind her. Immediately, her cheerful attitude snapped back on, almost instinctively. She turned to see her visitor, and automatically, her cheer turned to hate.
"You," she spat at Marik, who merely chuckled and gave her that grin that she despised.
"Me," he agreed lazily, catching a strand of her hair between his fingers.
"Don't touch me!" she hissed, swatting his hand away.
"Fine," he said,"But your... friends are worried. I just thought I would tell you beforehand so you can get your lines ready."
"Lines?!" she asked, looking slightly confused. "For what?"
He smirked. "Your movie debut, of course. Now come on, my little actress. Let's go."
-------
Act Three, scene one.
Yes, she was a good actress. Too good, maybe. But when life begins to feel like a play, you know it's time for the jig to be up.
She sighed, sitting in her room. They knew now. Her acting days were at a close. Marik was gone, and the real Malik was back.
So why did it feel incomplete? Surely she didn't feel anything for that monster...? Suddenly, she felt arms encircle her waist, a cold breath on the back of her neck.
"Of course you did. You always loved me. And now..." his sinister voice at her ear paused, giving time for her horror to set in, then chuckled as he continued on,"I'm always here, my little actress... forever."
